Your period app is probably selling your data.
The makers of your period app are probably more than willing to comply with organizations like ICE and the police and share your data for free.
Technology and convenience have taken the forefront on how we seek to relate to our day to day. Apps and AI are more “practical” than pen and paper, but we’re losing something in this, a lot actually. More than just our privacy.
Corporations have become the middle man in how we relate and understand ourselves and each other. Their feed of ever-changing algorithms and targeting messaging work to establish trust because the corporations know the value of your data. Do you?
We all only get one of these things to move around in. One vessel to taste food, kiss, have sex, drink wine, laugh, feel the bass of our favorite song, and know the warmth of the sun.
So often, a common facet of our society is to write off our body and see its needs as a nuance and annoyance. Especially our periods. In a very “mind over matter” fashion, we disregard the majority of ourselves in favor of an ideal we want our bodies to subscribe to.
But your body is running a program all its own. One kinda encoded in your DNA.
The nutrition you need, your ideal water intake, what medicines your body likes, the symptoms of PMS, when/how you ovulate, and the tricks (and treats) to give your body the most ease are hardcoded in your cells.
CYCLES is an invitation to better understand all that: to track your food, water, medicine, sex life, your period, ovulation, vitamins, and whatever else you partake in. It's an invite to listen to your body and connect with what it says to you. It’s a place for safekeeping and private data collection.
Cut the corporations out of your data. Learn your body.
